Spirit of the class

To provide a relatively lower cost class, aiming to improve the performance of older bodied Scalextric cars from the 1990’s by the use of some more modern components. This will also provide the necessary reliability and durability to withstand the rigours of club racing.
The eligible cars raced in the “Super Touring” era, legendary for its close, exciting racing. In order to replicate this we have selected a number of models from the Scalextric UK range that that are closely matched in terms of dimensions, weight and guide position, and we are using a standardised 3D printed chassis from Amato Chassis Design. The original body must be retained unaltered.
Please see the list of eligible cars (Section 6 below) and note that later re-released Scalextric UK versions of these cars are not eligible.
All spare/replacement parts used must comply with the specifications quoted below.

Body

No changes are allowed to the original car bodies, i.e. lowering, lightening, enlarging wheel arches etc. Mirrors and aerials may be removed.

Lightweight interiors and glass may be fitted.

Original spoilers should be fitted. A similar styled replacement either 3D-printed or from another car may be approved by the Technical Committee as necessary.

Chassis / Motor Pod

A 3D-Printed replacement plastic chassis must be used for all eligible cars which is available from Amato Slot Car Design (Club member).

Slot.It Inline S-Can motor pods must be used.

There is no max weight limit. Ballast may be added as per club general racing rules.

Motor

Only the Scaleauto S-Can Tech-1 Motor 20,000rpm is allowed. These are manufacturer stamped to make scrutineering easier.

Wheels/tyres

Only wheels from the South Staffs wheels range can be used.

Wheel inserts are not required as the South Staffs wheels are machined and coloured.

Front and rear tyres are free choice.

Front and rear tyres may be trued, minimum diameter of both front and rear wheel/tyres is 18.5mm.

Overall front and rear axle width (outside tyre-tyre dimension) must not exceed 55mm and should not protrude from the original body.

Other parts

Axles, must be solid (not hollow). Titanium axles are not permitted.

Axle stoppers free choice.

Guide blade, free choice.

Braid, eyelets and motor wires are free choice as per club general racing rules.​
